Our film hopes to have a surprise unexpected twist and in search of maximizing our chances of creating a good suspenseful scene we researched the mystery genre.. The camera angles, movements, and shots commonly used in mystery consist of: High and low angles, Close-up and Extreme Close-up shots, Dolly movements, over the shoulder shots, and POV shots. Directors like to use high angles to prove authority and power. Low angles are used to show weakness and fear. The whole idea in mystery movies is to show the suspense and fear of the characters, and the camera angles are very important. Close-ups and extreme close-ups are used so the audience can convey the emotions and allow the audience to kind of depict the characters mindset, can be used to give another meaning behind a character's words. Genre Research: Comedy

 My group and I are also researching comedy. As much as we want action, we also need to laugh. A comedy would also be a lot easier for us since we can just be ourselves. Comedy movies have a lot of close- ups, pans, long shots, and zooms. Close ups allow you to lead your audience into a more intimate setting. You can literally bring your audience closer to the action. And it emphasizes the importance of what we see. But as the push continues, it all breaks, letting viewers know they're watching a comedy movie.Long shots  give an overall context to the scene and usually lets viewers know that what we’re seeing right now isn’t the whole picture... until it zooms all the way out. Static shots, or stand still shots, build suspense. In comedy movies it allows room for the characters to correct themselves or something, Almost like a "wait for it" moment. Research: How to make a short film

In the video, the host, Ryan Connolly, discussed some important things to consider in a short film. The ones that stood out to me most were- emotion/ conflict, climax, jumpscare, limited resources,storyboard and script , tone (lighting and costume), safety , sound (and not too much or too little dialogue), and a good relationship with your crew. Emotion and conflict are best because they add to the story and allow a relationship and understanding amongst the audience and the film. The climax and the emotion work hand in hand because they give life and a deeper understanding of the story. Climax either builds tension or releases it. A jumpscare here and there just keeps the audience engaged. In a short film, he budget wont be the same as a full length blockbuster type of film. Your budget will be very limited including your resources. Location, props, casting, etc...
