In the video, the host, Ryan Connolly, discussed some important things to consider in a short film. The ones that stood out to me most were- emotion/ conflict, climax, jumpscare, limited resources,storyboard and script , tone (lighting and costume), safety , sound (and not too much or too little dialogue), and a good relationship with your crew. Emotion and conflict are best because they add to the story and allow a relationship and understanding amongst the audience and the film. The climax and the emotion work hand in hand because they give life and a deeper understanding of the story. Climax either builds tension or releases it. A jumpscare here and there just keeps the audience engaged. In a short film, he budget wont be the same as a full length blockbuster type of film. Your budget will be very limited including your resources. Location, props, casting, etc...
