Intro Blog

Hi again! It's me, Nicole Tarantino. Before you ask, no, I am not a close relative with Quentin Tarantino. I'm a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School. I plan on getting my AICE diploma and going to college to study Psychology and Criminal Justice. I used to want to be in the FBI but I've been reconsidering it recently. I don't know what college I want to go to yet, but I still have some time to decide. Enough about me, let's get to the good stuff! Throughout this course, I've grown a lot through my film projects. I've learned so many things like the actual process of making a film. I didn't know there were so many things that go into the planning. I also learned about the significance angles and other elements play into representation! Honestly, I'm very excited for this final task. It's the reason I signed up for this class. I can't wait. Just thinking about it gets my brain flowing with ideas. I never wanted to be a director but when I was younger, I wanted to be an actress more than anything in the world. In a sense, I feel like all this energy and excitement is my inner child finally getting to shine! I'm making it my goal to make this one of the best films I can possibly make! It won't be a Hollywood billion-dollar movie, but it'll be the closest thing to it!

  The first film was produced in 2005 and is a short film. 9 is a 2005 computer animated science fiction short film created by Shane Acker as a student project at the UCLA Animation Workshop. Story Board

   During this class period, my partner and I set up our storyboard for our Crocs commercial. We decided on how the commercial would be set up first and then how we would set up the storyboard that will coordinate with our commercial. In our first box, we have the actress holding a pair of crocs to show the jibbitz/gems off that decorate the crocs. In our second box, the actor is seen putting on their crocs while they are sitting on a bench located in the school. The third box shows the actor walking with the crocs on in both sports and comfortable mode. After the shoes are shown in both of the different wearable modes, the cameraman or woman will zoom into the crocs, showing the different angles of the shoes. Finally, our last box/part of our commercial will include the actors dancing as the crocs slogan comes on the scene concluding our commercial. Genre Research: Big Catch

  When looking for comedy short films on the websites given, we were unable to find any pertaining to comedy My team and I decided that it would be best to just look for one on Youtube rather than struggling to find one on the websites. Before going to Youtube we checked the regular internet where we mainly found films in our genre but they were full length. The first film we found on Youtube was "Big Catch." This interested us first because of the thumbnail. The thumbnail for this short was a picture of a man sitting with headphones and a shark behind him smiling. Seeing this, we automatically assumed that the shark would be trying to eat this man, but we did not know how it planned on going about it. In this film, there is no dialogue but there is diegetic sound where we can hear the birds making noise, the squeaking of the the shark on the deck, and the shark screaming as he realizes he is about to be thrown back into the ocean.
